Many people do not start thinking about their brain health until they notice some mental changes and memory loss in their 40s or 50s. But there are many things you can do to keep your brain as healthy as possible throughout your lifetime. We know that social interaction, and perhaps most importantly, physical activity keeps one’s brain sharp.

Keep your heart healthy
The most significant strategy is to stay on top of your cardiovascular health. You need to keep blood moving easily through your heart and blood vessels. High blood pressure (BP), increased cholesterol levels, smoking, and diabetes all increase the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases by restraining blood flow to the brain.
Hence, a healthy, active lifestyle will go a long way to keep your blood flowing and avoid those problems.
Get plenty of sleep
A simple way to keep your working brain shut off is to sleep for 7-9 hours a night. Sleep is the most significant thing you can do to reset the brain. Allow it to recover, and restore mental health.
Follow a digital detox
Commit to the same bedtime each night, and turn off all electronics and screens at least 60 minutes before you hit the bed.

Be Social
Spend some time with your friends. Because when you are socializing, the blood circulates to several different parts of your brain as you are listening and developing responses. When you are connecting with friends, you are less likely to stay depressed. Depression can interfere with how well your brain works. If you are depressed or worried, the brain becomes so occupied with what-ifs and worries that it does not give 100% to learning new things.
