Repetitive behavior: Symptoms, and treatment: Many people have the habit of biting their nails, pulling their hair, shaking their legs, or doing any other activity unknowingly or subconsciously. It is believed that these are realistic reactions driven by stress. Such habits are called Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior Disorders in medical language. This means that it is a mental disorder in which a person constantly hurts or moves any part of his body unknowingly.
When a person does not control his stress, then he starts resorting to this habit. And then it also becomes a habit. There are many antidepressants and therapies available for you to handle this condition. But let us first understand the reason for this problem. This problem comes under the category of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Where a person pulls or pushes on one or more body parts. Examples of this include teeth biting, or nail biting. Even if the hair is being pulled, it also comes under the category of this disorder.
Symptoms of body-focused repetitive behavior:
Many people who have this disorder do all the above-mentioned activities without realizing it. While others remain cautious on this subject. While they are victims of anxiety or stress and after doing so, they also feel a deep comfort. Sometimes the habit of pulling skin from around the nails and pulling hair is also considered a symptom of such a disorder.

Many times the person who suffers from this disorder tries to stop himself from doing all these things. But things go out of his control. If a mark (purple color) has come under your nail, then sometimes it can also be considered a symptom of this disorder because the nail starts bleeding due to chewing your nails.
Treatment of body-focused repetitive behavior:
- If you want to get rid of this disorder, then you can take some of those medicines which can be suggested by your doctor. You can take cognitive behavioral therapy. Teach yourself to be more aware of the things you are doing and try to stay present in the current situation.
- Try to identify and avoid the situation which raises your disorder. Instead of these activities, amuse yourself with some other activity. Like knitting or doing some art in which you are interested or drawing. So that you can forget about it for a while.
- If you are very troubled by this disorder and want to leave it permanently, then you can use cognitive behavioral therapy. This therapy can help decrease the symptoms of your disorder. The name of the most widespread therapy is Habit Reversal Therapy. Even if you involve yourself in some other activities, you can still get help in getting rid of this disorder and its symptoms.
