Signs of cheating: Cheating can be traumatic and is one of the most challenging problems faced in a relationship. While many people are blindsided if and when they find out about a spouse or partner cheating, others may doubt cheating because of actions that are out of the bar.
Signs of cheating
Changes in Communication
A communication breakdown is never a favorable sign. If you can not get your spouse to communicate with you, they no longer share their things with you, or the words “I love you” are no longer spoken, there is likely an underlying issue.
Increased interest in changing appearance
Taking care of yourself can be positive, but when combined with other questionable behaviors, this may also be cause for concern. If your partner has increased interest in changing their appearance, this could be a sign of cheating.
Spending more time away from home
There comes a time when other areas of our life take up more of our day. This correlates to less time at home. However, if time spent elsewhere continues to rise for long periods, this may be one of the signs of cheating or that your partner is spending time with someone else.
Change in attitude
Your spouse may encounter work stress or problems with other relationships that can lead to changes in attitude. The following might be signs of cheating, but they could also signal other issues.
- Your spouse shows signs of low self-esteem.
- You see that spouse has a sense of confusion about themselves
- Your spouse is more pessimistic than before.
- Your spouse seems to be picking battles more often.

Lying
Lying in a marriage is a red flag. This deception can involve lying about cheating, or your partner may lie about other things as well. As per the studies, people who have cheated on their partners tend to be better at detecting lies themselves.
Avoidance
If your partner is avoidant, this can be a sign of cheating. Sometimes people who cheat avoid their partners so they do not have to face awkward questions about who they were with or where they were. Also, they want to avoid the feelings of regret they have for stepping out on the relationship.
They blame you for cheating
When someone feels regretful about something they have done, they might communicate those feelings of guilt to the other person, blaming them for doing the same thing. In such a case, your partner may blame you for cheating even though you have given them no reason to think this way.
At the end
Again, there is no standard way to tell if your partner is cheating. What may be a warning sign in one relationship might not be a sign of cheating in another relationship. It is only when the untruths and stories stop adding up that cheating usually comes to notice. Don’t try to get through coping with cheating alone. Before you make any conclusions about whether or not to end your marriage, it is intelligent to seek relationship therapy either alone or together.
